TESTAMENT is an international consortium combining expertise in social history, legal history, and related fields. Supervisory committees include both social historians and jurists to ensure methodological “unity in diversity” across the six projects.
Agnieszka Bartoszewicz
She specialises in late medieval culture and society. Her research focuses on intellectual and urban writing culture, as well as the history of Warsaw, cartography, and historical geography. She is the author of several monographs and around one hundred articles and reviews, and has published two books on the history of cartography together with Henryk Bartoszewicz.

Assistant professor in the Research Group of Medieval History. Her interests include gendered violence, premodern family dynamics, and the social history of law and justice, with a current focus on sexual violence and household relationships in the late medieval Low Countries. She co-authored Wijvenwereld: Women in Urban Society in Late Medieval Brabant and is working on a book on the history of consent.

Associate professor of Roman law and legal history at the KU Leuven Faculty of Law and Criminology. His research covers early modern legal thought on loans and credit, canon law, and the history of moral theology. He has degrees in law, theology, religious studies, and canon law, and received several awards for his theses and doctoral work.

Maciej Mikuła
Professor in the Department of Church Law and the Law of Religious Denominations at the Jagiellonian University. His research focuses on the history of German law in Central and Eastern Europe, medieval legal sources, criminal law in interwar Poland, and guarantees of religious freedom. He has led and participated in numerous international and national research projects, including the IURA initiative on historical sources of law.

Professor of legal history at Friedrich Schiller University Jena. His work examines the development of legal doctrine and legal practice in historical perspective, with a particular focus on continental European legal traditions.
